Dr. Allen Northrup PhD FRSC has a track record of over 30 years in diagnostics instrumentation development both as an inventor and serial entrepreneur.
In 1996/97 Allen co-founded Cepheid (IPO to NASDAQ:CPHD on June 21, 2000; later acquired by Danaher Corp NYSE:DHR on September 6, 2016 for 4 BUSD), and was its first CTO and VP of Research. In 2002, Allen founded Microfluidic Systems, purchased by PositiveID Corporation Corp. May 10, 2011). As Co-founder (2014) and CEO of MIODx, he currently leads the company’s commercialization of PCR-based cancer biomarkers and diagnostics.
Dr. Northrup has 54 issued US and foreign patents, over 40 peer-reviewed publications, and several engineering and entrepreneurial business awards. He is a Member of the National Academy of Engineering (NAE.edu), a Fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineers (AIMBE.org) and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC.org). Dr. Northrup received his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of California, Davis.
