Gert Desmet is a co-founder of Pharmafluidics and has an MSc and PhD in chemical engineering.
Gert is heading the department of chemical engineering at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium. His research mainly focuses on the miniaturization and automation of separation methods, as well as on the investigation and the modeling of flow effects in chromatographic systems.
He authored or co-authored of over 250 peer-reviewed papers and 10 patent applications and is a past chair of the Chemistry Panel of the Flemish National Science Fund (FWO). He currently is Associate Editor of “Analytical Chemistry”, a journal of the American Chemical Society, and a member of the permanent scientific committee of both the ISC and the HPLC conference series. In 2016, he received a 2.7 million Euro Advanced grant from the European Research Council (ERC).
